The comment section is the one place volume works against you
On likes, views and saves, more is broadly better up to the point of implausibility. Comments invert that. Each one is legible, and each one is an opportunity to make the post look worse.
Consider what a visitor actually does. They read the top comment. If it says something specific about the post, the post gains credibility. If it says "🔥🔥🔥" and the next four say variations of the same thing, the visitor learns something you did not want them to learn, and they learn it faster than any like count could have told them.
This is why we sell comments in small quantities and why the smallest packages are the ones we recommend most often. Eight comments that read like eight different people is a better outcome than eighty that read like one script.
